Project strategies
International Partnership for Human Rights (IPHR) plans projects that seek to advance the rights of vulnerable communities, such as women, children, migrants and minorities, who are subject to human rights abuses in different parts of the world. At the same time, just like when offering consultant services to NGOs, IPHR projects aim at empowering local civil society groups and individual human rights defenders, imrpoving their working capacity in particular at the international level, and helping internationalise human rights issues that otherwise may not reach international agendas through cooperation with local civil society groups.
When planning and implementing projects, IPHR builds on the following guiding principles:
- IPHR actions are guided by the seriousness of problems and the needs of target groups, while reflecting IPHR experience and capacity;
- IPHR always seeks cooperation with other NGOs, especially local ones, working with them on an equal footing and assisting them to carry out their mandates more effectively;
- IPHR supports the development of regional networks of independent human rights NGOs by encouraging cross-border contacts and cooperation;
- IPHR identifies concrete goals for its work and uses benchmarks to evaluate progress.
IPHR is also assisting other human rights NGOs in developing project proposals and planning activities related to China, North Korea, Central Asia, Russia and the Caucasus region.
