Contribution to EU-Uzbekistan Human Rights Dialogue

With assistance of IPHR and the Netherlands Helsinki Committee, the Initiative Group of Independent Human Rights Defenders of Uzbekistan has submitted a contribution to this year's EU-Uzbekistan Human Rights Dialogue, which will take place in Tashkent on 24 June 2011. The contribution highlights serious human rights violations in the ongoing fight against religious "extremism" in Uzbekistan, describes several cases from the past year that involved such violations and makes recommendations for measures the EU should urge the Uzbek authorities to take to address existing problems.
